Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Aroneu uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, and the choices you have.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and security tokens. They can help a website work properly, remember preferences, keep forms secure, and measure how the site is used.
This website sets no cookies at all — no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies. What we do store on your device is a small amount of local storage, described below.
You are nevertheless asked for your consent, because some of what we would like to do is not strictly necessary for the website to work: measuring how the site is used, and loading video players hosted by YouTube and Vimeo. You can accept or decline each of these separately, and change your mind at any time through the Privacy settings link in the footer.
2. Strictly necessary technologies
The only information we store on your device is what the website needs to work as you asked it to. It is used without consent because the website cannot operate properly without it:
- technologies that deliver pages and keep the site secure,
- storage of display preferences, such as the light or dark theme, kept in your browser’s local storage,
- form protection and spam prevention (hidden form fields and request rate limiting on our own infrastructure),
- the record of the consent choices you make here, kept in your browser’s local storage so we do not have to ask again on every page.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
3. Audience measurement
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that is cookieless by design. It sets no cookies, stores and reads nothing on your device, does not track you across websites or over time, and does not collect personal data. It records only aggregate counts — page views, referrers, country, device type — from which you cannot be identified.
Plausible is operated by Plausible Insights OÜ (Estonia) and the data for this website is hosted within the European Union.
Because Plausible stores and reads nothing on your device, we could run it without asking. We ask anyway, and it loads only if you accept the “Audience measurement” category.
Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time through the Privacy settings link in the footer, with effect for the future.
4. Layout and usability measurement
If you accept the “Layout and usability” category, we record where visitors click and how far down a page they scroll. We use it to find parts of a page that do not work — a button nobody sees, a section nobody reaches.
This runs on our own server. There is no third party involved, and no cookie. What is recorded for each interaction is the page address, the position of the click within the page and within the element clicked, the size of your browser window, and the moment it happened.
What is deliberately not recorded: your IP address, any cookie or identifier, any session or visitor number, anything that links one click to another, and anything that links a visit to a person. The records cannot be traced back to you, which also means we cannot single them out to delete them at your request — there is nothing to search by. Records are deleted automatically after 90 days.
Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and Section 25(1) TTDSG for the reading of information from your device. Withdrawable at any time through the Privacy settings link in the footer.
5. Video embeds
Some Academy and article pages carry a YouTube or Vimeo player. Until you accept the “Video embeds” category, we show a placeholder and load nothing at all — no player, no image, no request — so those services do not learn that you visited the page.
When you allow them, we use the privacy-enhanced variants (youtube-nocookie.com and Vimeo with do-not-track set). They still receive your IP address and may set their own cookies once a player loads, under their own terms. You can also load a single video without changing your choice for the rest of the site.
Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
6. Other third-party services
One website function takes you to a third party, which may set its own cookies once you are there:
- Cal.eu (the European instance of Cal.com) — booking a call opens their own site in a new tab, under their cookie and privacy terms. Nothing from Cal.eu runs on this website, so there is nothing here to consent to.
The contact and careers forms are handled on Aroneu’s own infrastructure and do not rely on third-party form cookies. See our Privacy Policy for details on the providers we use.
7. Managing your choices
The Privacy settings link in the footer reopens the consent panel on any page. You can change any category there, and a change applies from that moment on.
You can also manage or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time. Clearing your browser storage deletes your recorded choices, so we will ask again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may affect how the website works.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the website, technology stack, or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be published on this page.
